It was fantastic to finally visit the continuously evolving, open-air, #urban_art #gallery that is the village of #Fanzara. Since 2011 the village has held a street art #festival with international #graffiti artists invited to turn this tiny little village into an open air art exhibition. It's a wonderful #juxtaposition of a small #rural village with urban #streetart.

Picking up an #artwork for a client. Its 150 x 100cm printed on fine art, photographic vinyl and applied to #Dibond.

I visited this Slovakian #synagogue in #Vrbové in 2010. It was #abandoned after World War II when the town's #Jewish population was either killed or left town. Since WWII the synagogue has had several changes of ownership the most recent being a Jewish businessman who was given 3 years to renovate it. If this renovation was not completed then it would be returned to the town's council. His time was up in the winter of 2009 and he had done nothing so it now belongs to the town once again.

I've been very quiet on #socialmedia media over the past few months as I have been putting a radical, life plan in action! I've moved to #rural #Spain, bought myself a dwelling with land and so now begins my next #adventure! It was always my dream to live #off-grid in nature, growing wonderful produce and creating amazing #art from a #garden_studio. I've so much work to do first but I am so so #excited and #happy to finally be on this journey.

Lest I Forget 2020 (#1)
#2020 has been #catastrophic for many of us. As an artist my way of coping with all the #loss #uncertainty #fear-mongering, change and #isolation has been to create, to #create and to create some more! In my latest work I've brought together some of my thoughts, #emotions and #messages from the world around me to create the series #Lest_I_Forget_2020 The majority of the imagery shown are my own photos. However for the first time ever I have also included a few #memes and photos that other people have sent me over the last year. What you see here is not the finished artwork as I shall be creating a #3D version.

I'm often asked how I go about my #3D #squares des

I'm often asked how I go about my #3D #squares designs. It's a very long process which starts with the taking of many, many #photographs and collecting my reference together. Well over 200 images were used in each of these artworks. I sort my source material into #colours and #tones. I then create the basic #layout design in Adobe #Illustrator, which is then changed and refined. I then calculate the 3D block height of each #square by allocating each square a different shade to determine their heights. I then lay out the imagery within these square designs. I further refine them in Adobe #Photoshop. Once printed the #fine_art art photographic vinyl is applied to blocks of differing heights and applied to the background. I shall upload this process once I have the print work back from my printers.

a bit of history: It was originally built as a lung sanatorium in 1898, and then used as a TB clinic until the 1950s. From 1968 it was used as a sanatorium for the NVA border troops and after reunification, the German Armed Forces used it recreationally. It was returned to the church in 1992 and since 2000 it has been left empty and #abandoned .
